Nara had woven many worlds, but one remained silent-a world at the edge of the Starlight Path, forgotten and gray. She had tried to plant seeds there, but they would not grow. She had sung songs, but they faded into silence.

"Why does this world not respond?" she asked Elara.

Elara looked at the gray world, her eyes sad. "This is the world of the First Silence. It was the first world to lose its song. Its sorrow is too deep for a single weaver."

Nara knelt at the edge of the world, her hand resting on its dry soil. She closed her eyes and listened. Beneath the silence, she heard a single note-faint, fragile, almost gone.

"There is still a song here," she said.

She sang, not with her voice, but with her heart. She wove a thread of pure light and placed it on the soil.

The note grew stronger, and a faint hum began to rise from the ground. The gray lightened, and a single green shoot emerged.

Nara smiled. "It is waking."

Elara watched, her eyes wide with wonder. "You have done what no weaver has done. You have reached the First Silence."

Nara looked at the shoot, at the world beginning to stir. She understood now that even the deepest sorrow could be touched, if you were willing to listen.

She would return to this world often, tending its fragile song, helping it remember how to sing.

The First Silence had been broken. And Nara had been the one to break it. She would keep weaving, keep planting, keep singing-until every world had found its voice again. The End.

The dropship shook as it entered Xylos's atmosphere, the hull groaning, the heat shields glowing. Lieutenant Kaelen Voss gripped the harness, his body vibrating with the turbulence. Around him, his team did the same, their faces masks of concentration.

"Thirty seconds," the pilot announced.

Kaelen ran through the mission in his head. Infiltrate the command center. Destroy the facility. Extract. Simple words for a mission that would likely kill them all.

"Twenty seconds."

Mira sat across from him, her eyes closed, her breathing steady. She was preparing, the way she always did-retreating into herself, finding the calm at the center of the storm.

"Ten seconds."

The hatch opened, wind screaming past, the ground visible far below. Kaelen's heart pounded, but his hands were steady.

"Go!"

He jumped.

The darkness swallowed him, the wind tearing at his suit, the ground rushing up. He activated his grav-chute, the deceleration slamming into him, and then he was down, rolling, coming up with his rifle ready.

Around him, the team landed-shadows in the night, silent and deadly. Mira landed beside him, her weapon raised, her eyes scanning.

"Sound off," Kaelen whispered.

One by one, the voices came back. Twelve. All present.

"Move out."

They crept toward the command center, a dark shape on the horizon, its lights flickering. Guards patrolled the perimeter, their armor gleaming, their weapons ready.

Kaelen signaled. Mira moved forward, silent as a ghost, her knife flashing. The guard fell without a sound.

They slipped through the perimeter, into the facility, into the heart of the enemy. The corridors were narrow, the walls humming with alien energy.

"Contact," Mira whispered. "Three guards, ahead."

Kaelen studied them, calculated, planned. "We go through. Quietly."

They moved as one, the guards falling before they could raise the alarm. Kaelen's heart pounded, but his hands were steady.

The command center was ahead. The enemy was somewhere inside.

But somewhere in the darkness, a trap was waiting. And somewhere in the facility, the war would be decided.
